Hookhider Fishing Rods The story of the Vizsla behind the vision. The HOOKHIDER grip was designed and patented by Steve Crooker, an avid fisherman, whose fishing companion was often a Vizsla bird dog named Ty. Steve, as most anglers, spent a good deal of time on the water and too much of that time trying to keep hooks on rigged rods out of the carpet, the net, boat seats and other rods in the rod locker. One afternoon a bee got after Steve, the only bite he’d had, and while he was swatting at the bee with his cap, Ty jumped off the back seat, ran to the front of the boat, grabbing the bee out of the air. Thankful for the help, Steve praised Ty and gave her a pat on the head. From that pat on the head, Ty assumed that it was a good thing she had done and now it was her job to capture every insect in the boat. She was very vigilant to her task. Steve being certain that Ty, in her line of duty, was going to jump into a hook on one of the many rigged rods he kept on the deck, resolved to design a fishing rod grip that would solve the problem. Thus, HOOKHIDER! Quoting Steve, "To me, fishing is the greatest sport in America. I hope the concept will add a little quality to the time we have to fish and will make fishing even more fun." HOOKHIDER fishing rods are made of a unique combination of materials that focus on four major factors...durability, strength, flexibility, and sensitivity. Rods must meet very high test standards in all categories before they leave the factory. Hookhider prides itself in producing lightweight sensitive rods with characteristic high back bone strength for fighting the toughest of fish. Add Hookhider's Revolutionary patented grip design and you have a one of kind performance rod. |
